ARN: All the Goss, from Gordon

Gordon Johnston here, following in the footsteps of The Great Man and making my first attempt at ARN’s famous monthly column.
Thankfully there’s a lot to tell you, so I won’t be padding it out with football stories! JC was so off the wall sometimes that maybe we should have called his articles ‘Tales of the Unexpected’!
Let’s kick off with Vendex North. As per, we’ll have a huge range of ‘on the day’ promos and offers and this time, the emphasis is on multi-buy bargains. I can’t tell you in advance exactly what they’ll be, but here’s a heads-up…
The list of opportunities awaiting you at Vendex covers stuff that you know is going to sell through fast, from mega brands such as Cadbury’s, Coca Cola; Walker’s Crisps, Monster; Costa Coffee, PowerAde; C4 Energy, Burt’s, Mars and many, many more – but I will single out Huel. Huel has been a revelation in vending. From a standing start it’s looking as though it’s here to stay. I’m not saying that sales have gone through the roof, but they’ve definitely put a dent in the warehouse ceiling… If you’re not yet a convert, Vendex is your chance to see what all the fuss is about.
So, when I say it’ll pay you to head for Stands 64 and 65 as soon as the doors open, I’m not kidding. It may be a day late, but we’ll be letting off our fireworks on the sixth of November.
ARN: All the Goss, from Gordon
It’s not just one-off deals-on-the-day, mind you: at Vendex, ARN will be introducing you to the amazing product that is Cheez.it. If you’re not familiar with Cheez.it, here’s the low-down. Produced by Kellogg’s, Cheez.it has become the biggest snack brand in the USA and all the signs suggest that its success across the pond will be repeated over here.
It’s not a ‘new’ name, in fact Cheez.it was founded over a century ago; but under the leadership of Kellogg’s, it’s become a billion-dollar brand in the U.S. and Kellogg’s believes that there’s even more growth to come for their crunchy, square-shaped paprika coloured crowd-pleaser. I could tell you how great they taste, but there’s no substitute for sampling them for yourself at Vendex. There’s a lot of cheese in them there bags.
And that’s not all. I know many of you will be delighted to hear that ARN is re-launching the Burtons range, so old favourites such as Maryland cookies, and the legendary Fish & Chips are back on the menu.
It’ll be our first vending show in living memory without JC at the helm, and no matter how busy we get at Vendex, there’ll be a Crichton sized hole that it’s my job to (try to) fill. If I do half as well as he did, I’ll be doing alright. And while I’m at it, I’d like to say a big ‘thank-you’ to those customers who have congratulated me on my promotion to the Hot Seat and wished me every success. It means a lot…
