Holly of Innsbruck: ‘Before Vendon, our set-up was struggling to keep up with the changing demands of vending.’

HollyHolly is a family-owned business based in Innsbruck, Austria, which has stayed ahead in the vending business by embracing innovation. However, it was the company’s partnership with Vendon that marked a turning point in its development.

Established in 1976, Holly has built a reputation for high-quality, regionally sourced products and reliable service across the Austrian Tyrol region. During that time, they have had to meet the challenges of shifting consumer demands by introducing innovations – without compromising their core values.

‘Our existing set-up was struggling to keep up.’

As Holly expanded its services across Tyrol, managing the burgeoning business became more complex. Inventory management, in particular, was becoming a logistical headache. ‘Keeping our machines stocked efficiently became something of a headache’, David Narr, Holly’s Executive Representative said. ‘Tracking inventory manually really was stretching our resources and on top of that, cashless payments were becoming the new standard. Our existing setup was struggling to keep up.’

In short, Holly identified that they needed a new solution that could improve the efficiency of restocking machines, reduce operational costs and meet customer demand for cashless transactions – at the same time as decreasing the onus on staff to monitor and maintain machines manually. ‘We were ready to adapt’, David says, ‘but we needed a reliable system to support us.

‘Vendon’s system saved us countless hours and made our operations much more efficient.’

By embracing Vendon’s IoT-powered real-time monitoring, the team at Holly enjoyed a clear view of the entire vending machine fleet. They could see instantly exactly what was happening inside each machine: was it functioning properly? Which products were running low and which were the best sellers?

No longer required to waste time on guesswork, Holly’s team could begin to focus their efforts on improving the service they offered. Consequently, machines never ran out of ‘must have’ items, downtime was minimized and customer satisfaction soared.

When machines were identified as requiring particular attention, remote monitoring allowed the team to troubleshoot directly from HQ in Innsbruck. ‘Before Vendon, even the most minor of issues required a site visit,’ David explained, ‘but now, we can handle resets and small fixes remotely via Vendon Cloud, so we can ensure our machines are running smoothly and after all, that’s what keeps our customers satisfied.’

Holly met the increasing demand for cashless payments with Vendon’s flexible NFC and cashless payment options, which allowed customers to make a quick tap-and-go payment and complete their purchases within a few seconds – no more rummaging in pockets or purses and counting coins… ‘Our customers appreciated the ease of cashless payment and Vendon’s integration made it easy for us to meet this demand,’ David recalled.

Another benefit of the move to cashless was the fact that Holly’s team no longer had to worry about cash handling, collection trips, or related costs. What’s more, funds reached Holly the next day.
