Look Who’s Come To The Party…

From PV Ed. Ian Reynolds-Young at the AVA Christmas Lunch

Ah, the AVA Christmas bash!

So, you’ve consulted the floor plan, made your way to your place, picked up the Uvenco brochure (that was on your seat, waiting…); sat down, taken a sly swig of the red and started reading. Finally, you put the brochure down and take a look-see. Immediately, there go a couple of familiar faces you haven’t seen in a while: Steve Hartland, ‘back in the room’, customary smile on his face, pressing the flesh.

Ian Forde and Sergei Kornienko grin and bear the intrusive photographer…

Sue Sproston’s here too; formerly of Bunzl Vending, (like Steve) and these days, of Snack Time, (like Steve). Then you spot Sergei Kornienko, phone pressed to his ear, heading for an ante-room. Then, Ian Forde, chatting animatedly…

And finally, as is perfectly apposite at a vending gathering, the penny drops.

It’s a conclusion that’ll be drawn by everybody in the room even before the group picture is taken, midst much banter, as the room empties. Literally and metaphorically, there’s a brand new player in the room.

”Laydees and Gennlemen, We Give You, Snack Time Two!

If they made a trailer for that movie, they’d have the bloke with the deep voice ending with ‘and this time, they mean business!’ Now, where did I put Mr. Spielberg’s number?

Joking aside, it was a welcome sight to see the new, improved Snack Time team getting together and champing at the bit.

BTW, please go to our Facebook page if you can put names to the faces… There’s a ‘tag’ thingy there, apparently.

The Editor

Planet Vending’s Editor is Ian Reynolds-Young and it’s Ian’s unique writing talent that has made PV what it is today – the best read (red) vending blog in the world, and vending’s best read (reed). Ian ‘tripped and fell into vending’, in the capacity of PR executive, before launching a specialist agency, ‘reynoldscopy’, dedicated to the UK Vending business. The company continues to represent the interests of many of the sector’s leading brands.

‘It’s all about telling stories’, he says. ‘We want to make every visit to PV a rewarding experience. By celebrating the achievements of the UK’s operating companies, we’re on a mission to debunk the idea that vending is retailing’s poor relation.’
