Magnificent Response To NHS Coffee Machine SOS From Evoca UK

Evoca UK has made a Magnificent Response to The NHS’s urgent appeal for coffee machines , reported yesterday by Planet Vending, by arranging to deliver shipments of its Flexy Nespresso capsule machine to University College London Hospitals and the Royal London & St Bartholomew’s Hospital.

The shipments total 60 machines.

‘We considered the potential of all our products in terms of how they could contribute to the well-being of NHS staff during their ‘darkest hour’’, Evoca UK Sales Director Craig Jukes told PV. ‘The issue with the majority of our machines, in this context, is that they would need to be set up on site by a professional. We were informed when we responded to the appeal that having installation engineers on site was not an option, so that ruled out our automatic and semi-automatic coffee machines, and our stand-alone vending machines.

‘The Flexy Nespresso is ideal for the task in hand, because it’s the coffee machine equivalent of ‘plug and play’. They’re simple to use and to keep clean and germ-free, which is obviously vitally important when you consider the environments in which they’ll be used.

Magnificent Response‘It’s kind of you to call our contribution ‘a Magnificent Response’’, Craig said, ‘but we see it as the least we can do. Many of our colleagues, as you know, are based in the Lombardy region of Italy; the area that has, for weeks now, been the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in Europe. They are the people who have made a Magnificent Response to the situation.

‘They set up a fundraising campaign in recognition of the work of staff at the nearby Papa Giovanni XXIII hospital, where many, many medics and ancillary staff have fallen victim to the virus. The company pledged at the off to ‘at least double’ the amount raised by staff and two weeks ago, the sum of 100,000 Euros was donated.

‘We see our modest donation of machines not as ‘a Magnificent Response’, but as simply another expression of Evoca’s sense of solidarity with the people who are combatting this unprecedented emergency on the front line.’

The machines will be dispatched from the Evoca UK HQ at Kingswinford on Tuesday, 15th April, for delivery the following day.

Prof. Marcel Levi MD PhD FRCP, Chief Executive of University College Hospitals London, reacted warmly to the donation: ‘Dear Craig’, he wrote, ‘this is absolutely fantastic, I am 100% sure our staff will absolutely love this as it is very useful in stressful times and during night shifts as well. Our PA’s will be on the outlook for (the delivery) and I will make sure it is correctly distributed across the various departments. This is fabulous, many thanks! I will make sure we will send you some pictures from our staff once they have received the machines. Best wishes, Marcel’

Bill Coleman, Supply Chain Lead at Royal London Hospital added his thanks: ‘Dear Craig, thank you for your kind offer of donation of Nespresso machines for our wards, which we are grateful to accept. We will distribute these across the wards within Barts Health.’

Whatever Craig may say, we still believe that this is a Magnificent Response. From all of us at PV, it’s ‘hats off’ to Evoca UK.
