Premier Foods: New Vending Products May Well Be Pushing At An Open Door

Premier Foods is adding to its vending portfolio to give operators a wider choice of hot drinks and soup offers.

‘Simplicity’, which the company describes as ‘a more premium range’, consists of a four-strong portfolio of products; namely Gold, Non HVO Whitener, Hot Chocolate and Lite Hot Chocolate. They’re all designed to produce a consistent texture, thanks to ‘agglomeration’ technology.

Premier Foods is also expanding its soup range, with new Batchelors 750g bag Cup-a-Soup for vending machines in three varieties. Containing additional flavouring and ground croutons for long-lasting taste, the Tomato, Chicken and Cream of Vegetable soups now all have an innovative no-stir formula. The updated recipe means an even smoother product, with a consistent and easily blended finish.

Tim Wright, National Account Manager at Premier Foods, said ‘Once again, we’re using agglomeration technology – a process that binds the powder together to help it better dissolve in liquid. This allows us to create ranges with a smoother-than-ever finish. The process ensures that there is improved mixing with no need for stirring and reduced residue.

“There is a growing love for our Batchelors brand and growing sales within the retail channel which, we expect will be reflected by sales through vending machines. The flavours are some of the brand’s most popular, meaning operators can offer their customers an established, household-name product.’

Tim’s right to be optimistic: the ‘love’ is there. Remember Vendex at Old Trafford back in 2017? We identified Premier Foods brand-new, agglomerated Batchelors soups as one of the best received new products at the show. When ARN’s Lyndsey was a Baxter (as opposed to a married Boutflour), she told PV, ‘we were so busy at AVEX that we couldn’t get off the stand for lunch. The (Batchelors) soup kept us going, it was delicious. Once it’s poured, it thickens up quickly and becomes a very satisfying meal in itself. In my view it’s the best soup I’ve ever seen in vending.’

Praise indeed; but Dawn, from MannVend, was even more rapturous: ‘All I want for Christmas is to have Batchelors soup in stock’, she said. ‘You can forget Prada shoes.’

That’s good news for Premier Foods; it sounds as though the new, improved range – and ‘Simplicity’ – will be pushing at an open door.

Tim concluded, ‘Premier Foods is committed to providing our customers with solutions that add value, particularly at a time when many operators are looking at vending as a helping hand in providing a contactless service.’
