Refreshment Systems has added top-quality hot meals to its vending sales portfolio, as the result of a collaboration with frozen meals provider Oakhouse Foods.
The flagship installation was created for Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which provides services for a population of around 800,000 people living in and around York, North Yorkshire, North East Yorkshire and Ryedale.
With the NHS serving over 140 million meals to patients annually and a workforce of 1.25 million, there is huge potential for the new solution; so it’s no wonder that the launch of the first machine was greeted with some fanfare…
The new offer from Refreshment Systems and Oakhouse Foods enables hospitals to provide a broad selection of high-quality frozen meals, accommodating a wide range of dietary preferences. These user-friendly self-service food stations can easily be integrated into hospital facilities to provide convenient and hassle-free access to nutritious food 24/7.
‘This is an exciting collaboration because it allows us to offer a unique food solution to hospitals all over the country’, Steve May, Commercial Director at Refreshment Systems said. ‘We’ve always been dedicated to enhancing the refreshment experience for patients and staff in our hospitals and this new option marks another significant step in that direction.’
Mark Pizey, Head of Marketing at Oakhouse Foods agrees: ‘We’re thrilled to team up with Refreshment Systems to make our delicious frozen meals accessible to hospital communities. Together, we’re committed to enhancing the well-being of individuals during their time on hospital premises by making hot meals available around the clock.’
The companies’ shared vision – ‘meal time, anytime’ – has potential beyond the Health sector, and the medium to long term aim is to introduce the new solution to other environments; including hotels, public spaces, and manufacturing sites.
