Vending Waves Goodbye to the Round Pound
As the cut-off date when the round pound ceases to be legal tender approaches at midnight on Sunday 15th October, the Automatic Vending Association (AVA) has received a lot of media attention regarding the readiness of our members’ machines.
The AVA has played an important role from the beginning of the consultation process on the new £1 coin through to its approval and design. The Automatic Vending Association has worked in close collaboration with the Royal Mint, playing a key role in the new coin’s 12-sided shape. (Pictured)
Jonathan Hart, Chief Executive of the Automatic Vending Association (AVA), said:
“We believe that all machines owned by AVA members are now accepting the new £1 coin. The AVA has been working closely with the Mint throughout the planning of the new £1 coin – including literally helping shape it so that it rolled in machines – and we have kept our members up to date on developments throughout the process.”
