Urban Bistro, the pioneering food-to-go vending solution from Wrights Food Group, has donated thousands of cakes, pies and pastries to help sustain doctors and nurses at Royal Stoke University Hospital in recognition of their heroic efforts treating patients during the Coronavirus crisis.
Ian Dawson, Sales and Development manager for Crewe based Urban Bistro, tells the story: “Our head of operations, Stephen Dawson, came up with the idea to try and put a smile on the faces of all the doctors, nurses and ancillary staff at the Royal Stoke. When we discussed the logistics with our chairman and CEO Peter Wright, he was immediately on board with the idea and our Wrights cake factory sprang into action to produce the products.
It’s not the first time Urban Bistro has shown its support for the local community. Over the last 12 months, the company has been supplying a range of food to a local homeless charity set up by Lou Macari, the former Manchester United player and Stoke City manager. The Lou Macari Centre provides a sanctuary for over 50 homeless people in the Stoke area and receives a monthly delivery from Urban Bistro.
A spokesperson for Royal Stoke University Hospital said: “A massive thank you to Stephen Dawson at Urban Bistro and Wrights for the smiles they have put on the faces of hard-working NHS Staff. The cakes are a fantastic gesture which was really appreciated by everybody.”
